What are the accepted audio file specifications?

The Orchard's standard audio spec is: WAV (.wav) Format 16-bit or 24-bit 44.1 kHz Microsoft PCM codec Stereo Our full list of accepted formats is: WAV (.wav) and FLAC (.flac): 16-bit: 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz 24-bit: 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, 88.2 kHz, 96 kHz, 176.4 kHz, 192 kHz Apple Lossless (.m4a): 16-bit/44.1 kHz only Please do not upload mixed bit depth releases (a combination of 16-bit and 24-bit tracks on the same release). To ensure proper quality, please source your audio directly from a production master export. Audio files created from a compressed format (e.g. MP3, AAC, or WMA) will have an inferior sound quality, and therefore should not be uploaded into our system.

What is the necessary lead time for new digital audio releases?

The Orchard typically recommends submitting audio releases in Product Builder 6-8 weeks before street date. Please note that delivery times can vary from one store to another. Please view our Global Digital Release and Delivery Calendar for more information.

When will I get paid?

Payment frequency depends on your contract with The Orchard and the territory where you are based.  Consult your contract, or contact your label manager for more information. Please note that you must meet your payment minimum before payment is issued.

What is a project?

A project is an undertaking to source some related content, assemble it in various ways, and monetize it via the appropriate channels.

What is a product?

A product, formerly known as a release, is a collection of one or more master recordings in a certain type of media available to consumers for purchase or other monetized access (ad-supported, subscription, etc).
